Laboratory spanner die for 8 mm discs (IR spectroscopy)
This inexpensive and simple laboratory die utilises the optically polished face surface of the two bolts as integrated pressure pellets.
One bolt is screwed into the body and the sample/KBr mixture is then filled into the body using a funnel or spatula. The second bolt is then screwed in. Attach a vacuum pump to the connector and, using spanners, tighten the two bolts until the sample has been formed into a disc for spectroscopic analysis. A laboratory press is not required.
